\nGenetic Disorders in Your Practice – and How to Try to Avoid Missing Them<\/p>\n

Objectives:<\/strong>
\nTo increase awareness and education for pediatric providers<\/p>\n

Dr. Carol Greene<\/strong> received her MD from Albert Einstein College of Medicine and initially trained in Pediatrics at the Children\u2019s Hospital of Los Angeles, before training in Genetics at Stanford Medical Center. She is currently Professor of Pediatrics and of Ob\/GYN at the University of Maryland. She is the interim Head of the Division of Genetics in the Department of Pediatrics, director of the general genetics clinics (pediatric and adult), and the Medical Director of the Masters in Genetic Counseling program. She is a Board-Certified Clinical Geneticist with special interests in inborn errors of metabolism, newborn screening and public policy, and is a past President of the Society for Inherited Metabolic Disorders. Her public policy experience includes a year working as staff for the Committee on Health, Labor and Pensions of the United States Senate in 1999 as a Congressional Fellow, followed by four years with the Department of Health and Human Services as an Analyst in the Office of Science Policy of the Office of the Secretary\/Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation, and more than a decade working with the CDC on quality improvement for genetic testing, including service on the CDC\/CMS Advisory Committee for the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act.<\/p>\n
