Overview:<\/strong>
\nGenetics for the Pediatrician: How to Incorporate New Testing into Clinical Practice<\/p>\n

Objectives:<\/strong>
\nTo increase awareness and education for pediatric providers<\/p>\n

Dr. Travis Odom<\/strong> is one of our pediatric critical care fellows here at UT Health San Antonio and will complete his training with us next month. Dr. Odom is originally from North Carolina, and it was there he completed medical school and pediatrics residency training at East Carolina University prior to pursuing fellowship here. He will soon begin his new job as an attending at The Children\u2019s Hospital of the King\u2019s Daughters in Virginia. During fellowship here, Dr. Odom studied bleeding outcomes associated with our institution\u2019s unique whole blood program for children undergoing heart-lung bypass during open heart surgery. This research was accepted and presented earlier this year at the 2024 Congress of the Society of Critical Care Medicine.<\/p>\n
