Pharmacology, Policy, and Politics

Pharmacologists aspire to move their research from bench to bedside. But even after a drug is approved by the FDA, there are myriad players who impact which patients receive it and what it costs. While seemingly obscure, the workings of the drug supply chain and policy proposals aiming to change it, impact everyone from patients to researchers. Dr. Brim will guide an interactive overview of the stakeholders that shape drug development, distribution, dispensing, and payment, and contemplate how federal policy proposals by some 2020 Presidential and Congressional candidates may impact drug innovation and patient care in the future.
