We have the highest ranking of any department in the School of Medicine.<\/p>\n<p>For investigator rankings Dr. Charles France ranks #6 and Dr. Randy Strong is ranked #25. Congratulations to both of these outstanding researchers![\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element text-center\">\n<h2 class=\"wpb_wrapper\">From the Chair<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Welcome to the Department of Pharmacology at UT Health San Antonio, one of the top Pharmacology departments in the country, being consistently ranked among the top 25. Our department is a hub of scientific discovery, education, and collaboration, where enthusiastic faculty and trainees come together to advance the field of Pharmacology. Together, we foster an environment of intellectual curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking. Our faculty are highly respected nationally and internationally and conduct both basic and translational research, enabling us to improve treatments across a wide spectrum of diseases to improve human health. Our areas of research include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">Drug-receptor interactions<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">Neuroscience<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">Substance use disorders<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">Pain<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">Aging<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">Cancer<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">Drug Discovery<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Because of the departmental diversity in disease models as well as technical approaches, our faculty routinely collaborate on integrated research projects. Our collegial and cooperative environment, together with the commitment of our faculty to scholarship, provides an optimal setting for success in graduate education and postdoctoral training. We host the Center for Biomedical Neuroscience (CBN), the Addiction Research Treatment &amp; Training Center of Excellence (ARTT), their respective NIH T32 training grants, and an ASPET undergraduate research program. Our goal is not only to train students to become accomplished scientists in a specific area of research but also to become independent, creative, and productive thinkers.
