Bioinformatics

The Bioinformatics Division of the Department of Population Health Sciences (PHS) is the home for High-Performance Computing (HPC) infrastructure, large data storage, bioinformatics expertise, and interdisciplinary research experience to manage and distribute complex genomic data sets, to develop and perform bioinformatics tasks and statistical analyses in the area of genomics and systems biology.

Biostatistics

The Biostatistics Division in the Department of Population Health Sciences (PHS) is the home for biostatistics and research design expertise required for a wide range of preclinical research, epidemiological studies, and interventional biomedical trials.

Clinical Informatics Research

The Clinical Informatics Research Division (CIRD) in the Department of Population Health Sciences (PHS) is a research and academic division dedicated to improving health care by providing clinical informatics services to local investigators that include: grant proposal support, preparatory to research and cohort exploration tools, multi-site study resources, and data extractions to facilitate a variety of studies and projects.

Epidemiology

The Epidemiology Division in the Department of Population Health Sciences (PHS) pursues the reduction of disease in human populations through research, education, and service.

Health Policy and Evaluation

The Health Policy and Evaluation Division in the Department of Population Health Sciences (PHS) focuses on how health policy, access to patient care, and social determinants of health impact disparities in health outcomes including cancer.

Institute for Health Promotion Research

The Institute for Health Promotion Research (IHPR), housed in the Department of Population Health Sciences (PHS) at UT Health San Antonio, is leading the charge to discover why Latino health disparities exist, creating solutions to reduce those disparities, and enhancing the ability of people to advocate for and start equitable community changes that create healthier places to live, work, and play for this rapidly growing population.

Information Systems (IS) in the Department of Population Health Sciences (PHS) provides a full spectrum of analytics, programming, database, administration, project management, and security experience and skills to build, deliver, support, and maintain sophisticated data management capabilities critical to our University’s research mission.
