Personal Statement:
Dr Vigil has a bachelor’s degree in biology and a master’s degree in Biochemistry and Immunology, both from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (Brazil). He was granted a Ph.D. in Neuroscience at King’s College London (UK) in which his research focused on the molecular bases of learning and memory. After his Ph.D., Dr. Vigil did his postdoctoral training in the department of cellular and integrative physiology at the University of Texas Health San Antonio (UTHSA). Currently he is an Instructor/Researcher also at UTHSA. His research interests include traumatic brain injury, epilepsy, and Alzheimer’s disease. He uses top-of-the-line techniques to study the interaction between these three pathological conditions.
