In translation research, I have had a long interest in nanoparticle drug delivery and have developed new ways to label nanoparticles with diagnostic and therapeutic radionuclides. Imaging of nanoparticles has lead to the development of novel nanoparticle-based methods of delivery drugs. Nanoparticles composed of lipids, known as liposomes, have been my greatest focus. In clinical research, I have had a long interest in gastric emptying as investigated with the gold standard technique of nuclear imaging. I have found that the rate of gastric emptying is an important controlling factor for postprandial glucose levels and that patients with type 2 diabetes and hypertension frequently have excessive rapid gastric emptying.<\/h6>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-1567\" src=\"https:\/\/lsom.uthscsa.edu\/radiology\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/148\/2020\/08\/RestrepoS.png\" alt=\"Carlos S.
