[vc_row el_class=”far”][vc_column width=”2\/3″][vc_column_text]The mission of the Radiation Oncology at UT Health San Antonio, is to provide compassionate, state-of-the-art, targeted radiotherapy of the highest quality, in a multi-disciplinary setting of clinical professionals, educators, and researches that constantly introduce new innovations to beat cancer.<\/p>\n

The Department of Radiation Oncology at UT Health San Antonio MD Anderson Cancer Center<\/a> and holds a designation by the National Cancer Institute. With eight vaults, four state-of-the art linear accelerators, one high dose rate after loader and two CT simulators, we are one of the largest and technically most advanced departments of radiation oncology in Texas.<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition to standard of care treatments, we offer many clinical trials through the national cooperative study groups such as NRG (NSABP, RTOG and GOG) \u00a0and SWOG (Southwest Oncology Group).<\/span><\/p>\n

True to our academic mission, we have a strong commitment not only in clinical care, but also in education and research. We have an accredited medical residency program with six residents over the four years of residency. We also offer a medical physics residency as well as PhD and DMP (Doctorate in Medical Physics) programs. The division of radiation biology is well known for its research productivity in DNA repair but also its translational research in radiation protectors. Close collaboration among the medical physics, basic science and clinical faculty is greatly fostered to constantly pursue a better way to diagnose and treat cancer. <\/span><\/p>\n
