Christopher Mitromaras, M.D. – Assistant Professor

Dr. Mitromaras is an expert in treating a multitude of complex vascular diseases, including aortic, carotid and lower extremity disease. He is one of the few surgeons in the state of Texas with expertise in the surgical treatment of thoracic outlet syndrome.  He dedicates a large amount of time towards the creation and maintenance of dialysis access, using both open and minimally invasive techniques. He is a pioneer in new endovascular therapies, and was one of the first physicians in South Texas to perform endovascular AV fistula creation.  In addition to his clinical duties, he is active in teaching residents and students at UT Health San Antonio.  His administrative interests include the planning of the new Heart and Vascular Institute, and enhancing outcomes in the care of stroke patients.
