2022 STAR Educator Recipient: Sarah Page-Ramsey, MD
Sarah M. Page-Ramsey, MD
Jane and Roland Blumberg Professor
Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology
Nomination Submission:
It is my honor to nominate Dr. Sarah Page-Ramsey for the LSOM Stars of Education award on behalf of the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Page Ramsey joined our faculty in 2015. Since arriving, Dr. Page-Ramsey has proven herself to be an outstanding physician, colleague, and leader. Her extensive knowledge, experience, and expertise (local and nationally) in medical education (both UME and GME levels) allowed her to quickly become one of the ‘go to’ people in the department.
Dr. Page-Ramsey was recruited to be associate residency program director soon after joining us and assumed the role of program director in 2019. Under her leadership, many new curricula have been instituted: year-specific resident reading and quizzes, journal club, surgical skills, and research. Didactic conferences have been updated, improved, and brought into alignment with national standards.
Her expertise and national leadership in simulation facilitated successful integration of this into Obstetric and Gynecologic teaching including an innovative and successful multidisciplinary team-based obstetric emergency simulation program.
Dr. Page-Ramsey is attuned to her residents’ needs and consistently adjusts to maximize their learning opportunities. During COVID, our residents preserved their required surgical case numbers (when other programs reported significantly decreases) due to her proactive involvement and handling of OR, clinic and rotation blocks.
Dr. Page-Ramsey is kind, approachable and gives selflessly as a teacher, mentor, coach, colleague, doctor, and person. I have been told by many medical students and residents that SHE was the reason they decided to pursue residency training at our program. I cannot think of another individual who has touched as many people in as many ways as Dr. Sarah Page-Ramsey. She is truly a role model and inspires those around her to be better clinicians, surgeons, educators, researchers and to think innovatively. She has my highest recommendation for this award.
