Dr. Manohar serves as the program director for the anesthesiology residency program. Since her arrival here in 2020 she has worked tirelessly to raise the bar on the educational mission for anesthesiology residents and students. Through mentoring and leading by example Dr. Manohar has increased the residency’s presence in the Texas Society of Anesthesiologists. In fact, the anesthesia residents won the last TSA Jeopardy contest, which has not happened here in 10 years.
On the national level, Dr. Manohar also serves as a board examiner for the American Board of Anesthesiology. She uses this skill and knowledge to the benefit of her trainees. She coordinates an annual mock orals event for the San Antonio anesthesiology residents; a citywide event that includes anesthesiologists from San Antonio Miliary Medical Center (SAMC) and UT Health San Antonio. Through her efforts, the UT Health faculty outnumbered the SAMC faculty at this event for the first time in recent memory.
In addition to her leadership efforts, Dr. Manohar is a dedicated bedside teacher. Every day of her clinical duties, she takes time to review a topic with each resident that she is paired with in the operating room. When rounding in the surgical ICU, Dr. Manohar provides daily didactics and point-of-care ultrasound teaching to the team.
In summary, Dr. Manohar is an excellent teacher who is dedicated to enhancing anesthesiology education at the local, regional, and national level!
