Anatomy Faculty Position – Open Rank

Applications are invited for two Open Rank faculty positions in the Department of Cell Systems and Anatomy (CSA), Joe R. & Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine, at the University of Texas Health at San Antonio. We seek applicants interested and experienced in teaching human gross anatomy for dental, medical, health professions and/or graduate students, including lecture and laboratory courses with dissections. Candidates should have a PhD, MD, DDS, DVM, dual degrees, or international equivalent degrees. The ideal applicant will have formal coursework and experience teaching human gross anatomy and neuroanatomy to dental, medical, or health professional students so that they could immediately become an active participant in gross anatomy and neuroanatomy courses. The Department has a rich history of teaching and research excellence and innovation. Evidence of a strong commitment to excellence in teaching is preferred, and does not exclude candidates with research programs. The primary educational responsibilities will include contributing to high-quality anatomical instruction, including incorporating modern digital technology, course preparation and administration, delivery, assessment, and working collaboratively with other faculty teaching anatomy. Teaching formats include large-group lectures, small group active learning, and cadaveric dissection laboratory sessions. Experience with clinical case-based, team-based, and self-directed active learning pedagogy is preferred. Familiarity with three-dimensional anatomy software programs and virtual platforms will be an asset. The successful applicant will participate in scholarship and departmental, university, and external service activities to enhance their career development as a full faculty member. Research in CSA encompasses undergraduate medical education best practices and innovative tools, anatomic variations, cancer biology, aging, neuroscience, and stem cell biology.

OPEN RANK – COMPUTATIONAL BIOLOGY FACULTY POSITION

Applications are invited for an open rank, tenure-track faculty appointment in the Department of Cell Systems & Anatomy within Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine at the University of Texas Health San Antonio (UT Health San Antonio). https://lsom.uthscsa.edu/dcsa/ We seek an outstanding investigator poised to lead a vibrant research program and participate in team science within the department and school of medicine. An ideal applicant will have expertise in computational biology approaches useful to cancer, neurodegeneration, and/or aging research. Candidates must hold a Ph.D., M.D., D.D.S., or equivalent degree and have a minimum of two years of productive postdoctoral experience. The selected candidate will be expected to participate in departmental teaching to graduate students. As a largely post-baccalaureate institution, teaching assignments are modest.
