Shared VA Position
The Division of Infectious Diseases in the Department of Medicine, Joe R. & Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine at UT Health San Antonio (UTHSA) is recruiting a non-tenure track physician faculty member. This position will hold an appointment of Assistant Professor/Clinical, Associate Professor/Clinical or Professor/Clinical dependent on level of experience.
The candidate will be employed by UT Health San Antonio with .375 FTE with an additional employment by the Veterans Administration of .625 FTE.
The UTHSA position involves clinical inpatient work at University Hospital as well as participating in medical student,resident, and fellow education and other scholarly activities. Outpatient clinical duties may be assigned. Candidates must have an MD or DO degree, completed 3 years of an ACGME certified Internal Medicine residency and 2 years of an Infectious Diseases fellowship and be board eligible/certified in Internal Medicine. In addition, must be licensed by the Texas Medical Board and maintain a certification by the Drug Enforcement Administration for credentials with UTHSA and University Hospital at time of appointment. The candidate must meet all requirements to hold the VA position as well.
The Division of Infectious Diseases is a vibrant and diverse division with inpatient general, transplant, and COVID infectious diseases services and multiple outpatient clinics. University Hospital is a 700 bed, level 1 trauma, referral center and is an IDSA recognized Antimicrobial Stewardship Center of Excellence and has an outstanding infection control program with an on-site full service microbiology laboratory and the internationally recognized Fungus Testing Laboratory. The Audie L. Murphy VA Hospital is connected to University Hospital by walkway, allowing ready access to both hospitals and the UTHSA campus. The division has an extensive clinical, basic and translational research portfolio including COVID-19, vaccine, tuberculosis, bacterial, and immunology studies.
