Clinical Neuropsychologist (Open Rank)

The Department of Neurology of the Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine, along with the Glenn Biggs Institute for Alzheimer’s & Neurodegenerative Diseases, at the Long School of Medicine, UT Health San Antonio is seeking a full-time clinical neuropsychologist to provide superb clinical care, undertake innovative and important collaborative research, and contribute to the teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows.

Our patient population is primarily adult and present with a wide variety of neurological and/or medical conditions including: epilepsy, movement disorders, dementia, neuromuscular diseases, multiple sclerosis, lupus, traumatic brain injury, and stroke. Neuropsychology faculty are involved in general outpatient assessments of patients referred from physicians within the UT Health San Antonio Physicians faculty practice plan including the Departments of Neurology, Neurosurgery, Psychiatry, Internal Medicine, and Palliative Care.

The candidate will join a vibrant team of clinical faculty and research scientists who are providing comprehensive patient care and conducting cutting-edge research within a collegial atmosphere. Faculty participate in a number of subspecialty multidisciplinary clinics (e.g., multiple sclerosis, dementia, and pre-surgical conferences) and provide neuropsychological expertise in research projects with faculty in other departments (e.g., cognitive effects of cancer treatments in the UTHSA Cancer Center,) and collaborative projects with colleagues in the Department of Neurology and world class neuroimaging colleagues in the Research Imaging Institute (RII). Trainees include visiting VA postdoctoral fellows in neuropsychology, as well as residents (e.g., psychiatry, neurology), and medical students. The opportunities for collaborative clinical, educational and research initiatives are extensive.

Minimum requirements are a doctoral degree in psychology and completion of an internship and post-doctoral training in neuropsychology.  Candidates must eligible for licensure in Texas and be board-certified or board-eligible (APBB-CN).

Epileptologist (Open Rank)

The Department of Neurology of the Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine at UT Health San Antonio is seeking a clinical/academic epileptologist to provide superb clinical care, undertake innovative and important collaborative research, and contribute to the teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows.

Serving the larger San Antonio, South, and West Texas communities, the South Texas Comprehensive Epilepsy Program is an NAEC Level Epilepsy 4 Center with five adult epileptologists, one pediatric epileptologist, two epilepsy surgeons, two neuropsychologists, and two physician assistants.  Clinical responsibilities include attending on the 10-bed adult Epilepsy Monitoring Unit, reading in- and outpatient EEG studies, neuro ICU continuous EEG studies, and supporting outpatient clinics.

Minimum requirements include an MD/DO degree, completion of an ACGME-accredited neurology residency, and completion of a one-year fellowship in epilepsy or clinical neurophysiology, with emphasis on EEG/epilepsy.  Candidates must be board-certified or board-eligible in Neurology and Epilepsy. Preferred qualifications include completion of a two-year fellowship training program, Spanish language skills, and prior research experience.
