Personal Statement:

Shane Sprague has a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Texas at San Antonio and has been a Senior Research Associate for the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio since 1997. He has been with UT Health San Antonio for 24 years and has developed expertise in animal care, behavior, surgical procedures, as well as multiple molecular biological procedures.  During this time he has been involved in research investigating stroke, vascular stents, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, peripheral thermal injury to the brain, and post-traumatic stress disorder. In 2008, he helped create a shared resource at our university that we call the Shared Resource for Neurodegenerative Models in which we offer expertise in surgical rodent models to research investigators involved with similar studies.
