In alignment with the Long School of Medicine, the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology’s Division of Education is committed to providing the highest quality medical education and training for students, residents, faculty, alumni and our community partners in the area of Women’s Health.
We aim to provide a stimulating and supportive learning environment facilitating each learner’s development and mastery of basic skills, critical thinking, and problem solving while also encouraging creativity and innovation. By fostering scientific inquiry and educational scholarship we are working to create a culture which inspires lifelong learning.

Provide opportunities for learners to increase knowledge, define areas of interest and talent, master basic skills, engage in critical thinking, develop a moral framework, inspire others to interact appropriately and respectfully with each other and find satisfaction in our work: mens sana in corpore sano: healthy mind and body.
Design, appraise and oversee administration, development and evaluation of educational programs. Educational programs include clerkship, senior electives, residency program, fellowship programs, PA and NP. Assist faculty with instructional design and enhancement as needed.
Mentorship and Faculty Development
Encourage and facilitate mentorship. Provide workshops and training on topics pertaining to medical education: feedback, teaching skills, engaging learners, etc. Promote and foster educational scholarship and research. Provide CME offerings to community physicians in San Antonio and referral areas. Provide women’s healthcare education to the patients in our community.
Our program offers a robust clinical and surgical practice that include vaginal, abdominal, laparoscopic and robotic surgery that spans the depth and breadth of Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery, Female Urology, Neurourology and Urodynamics, and defecatory dysfunction.
Our program in Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility is a three-year program designed to qualify the candidate for advanced certification in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Inc.
