David G. Armstrong, DPM, MD, PhD Honored with Leadership Award at UT Conference December 3, 2022

UTHSCSA fellowship alumnus and former faculty member David G. Armstrong, DPM, MD, PhD received the inaugural Lawrence B. Harkless Leadership Award from UT at the Great Debates & Updates Diabetic Foot Conference. “Today we honor two great leaders in the diabetic foot,” said co-chair Dr. Lee C. Rogers, “Lawrence B. Harkless, this award’s namesake, was responsible for a national movement of podiatry in caring for the diabetic foot. He inspired countless residents, students, and peers. Dr. Armstrong, who was mentored by Dr. Harkless, now leads a global movement. One that is making an impact on, literally, all continents. The wake created by these two leaders is long and wide.”

Armstrong is a Professor of Surgery at the Keck USC School of Medicine and the President of the American Limb Preservation Society. He has authored more than 500 peer-reviewed papers and is considered the global leader in the diabetic foot.
