Personal Statement:

Dr. Ian Whitney grew up in Bastrop, Texas. He attended UT- Austin and received a Bachelor’s of Science in Human Biology in 2004. He worked for MD Anderson doing HIV vaccine research and had gained interest in infectious disease treatment. He earned his medical degree from Texas A&M Health College of Medicine in College Station, Texas in 2009. He did his residency in Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio from 2009-2014 and a postgraduate Fellowship in Shoulder and Elbow Surgery at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle, Washington was completed in 2015.
Dr. Whitney actively participates in research involving infection prevention and treatment as well as shoulder and elbow, sports medicine and arthritis research. He participates in mentorship and teaching for medical students and residents and has served as a volunteer in the Haiti Relief Aid effort during the fall of 2013. He is married and has 4 children and enjoys spending time with his family in the outdoors. He has a passion for teaching and cares for his patients with the same love and compassion he would for his family.
