Audiology Graduate Student 4th year Externship
Description:
Well-rounded stipend opportunity for an Audiology 4th year externship at a leading academic institution
in San Antonio, Texas. Two positions available. Students will rotate between two busy Audiology Clinic
within the UT Health San Antonio Department of Otolaryngology- Head and Neck Surgery. Clinic also
contracted to provide services to San Antonio Independent School District (SAISD). Provides exposure to
primarily adult diagnostic audiometric and vestibular evaluations, as well as amplification and tinnitus
management solutions.
Essential Responsibilities:
Under the direct supervision of a licensed audiologist:
- Provides diagnostic audiometric evaluations including ototoxic monitoring and hearing
conservation - Vestibular evaluations
- Uses best practices to fit, program and dispense hearing aids and other custom ear products
- Provides tinnitus management and support
- Auditory Processing Disorder Evaluations
- Audiometric data collection for tinnitus research study
- Educational audiology services for SAISD
- Counsels individuals with auditory disorders and their families and other service
providers regarding the etiology of the disorder and its management
NOTE: Students currently enrolled in a Texas audiology program are eligible for additional
clinical hours at the local county hospital for exposure to pediatric and electrophysiology
services.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Current enrollment in Au.D. program and eligible for fourth year Au.D. externship
- Eligible for a Texas Intern license
