Welcome

Frank MillerWelcome to the Department of Otolaryngology-Head Neck Surgery at UT Health San Antonio.  On behalf of our faculty, staff, residents, and students we are delighted you are taking the time to look at our department.  We have a wonderful team that is dedicated to our core missions of excellence in patient care, education of the next generation of physicians, and research.  We have an accredited ACGME residency program in Otolaryngology-HNS with 10 residents and full-time faculty in all sub-specialty areas of Otolaryngology-HNS.  Our faculty consists of fellowship trained physicians in Rhinology, Facial Plastic-Reconstructive Surgery, Head-Neck Oncologic Surgery, Pediatric Otolaryngology, Laryngology and Airway Disorders, Comprehensive Otolaryngology, and Otology/Neurotology.

Our main outpatient practice is based at the Medical Arts Building (MARC) and is part of our UT Health San Antonio faculty practice.  The MARC is the flagship location of our out-patient practice. Across the street from the MARC is The May’s Cancer Center at UT Health San Antonio MD Anderson and is the location of our faculty oncology practice.  We also provide out-patient care for patients at our University Hospital based Pediatric Otolaryngology Clinic and our Robert B. Green UH Otolaryngology Clinic.

We are excited to have broken ground for the new UT Health SA Hospital in March of 2021.  This new multi-specialty hospital will focus on oncology services with an anticipated opening in the summer of 2024.  It will be on the same campus with our May’s Cancer Center and the out-patient Medical Arts Building.

University Hospital (UH), our primary teaching facility, is a state-of-the-art tertiary care center that cares for both adult and pediatric Level 1 trauma from all of South Texas.  The University Hospital Sky Tower, which opened in 2014, expanded our bed capacity to over 750 private beds and added 36 operating rooms.  Our new 300 bed UH Women and Children’s Hospital will open in 2022.  This state-of-the-art facility will provide tertiary services in pediatrics and women’s health.

This is an exciting time for the Department of Otolaryngology-HNS and UT Health.  We are actively recruiting faculty and are looking to expand our residency program.  San Antonio is a wonderful place to live and work.  As the 7th largest city in the USA, it offers many amenities including an excellent cost of living, friendly people, and an abundance of recreational activities.  Thank you for your interest in our department.  Please contact us if you have any questions.
