Bio

Lisa Lopez is an Adjunct Instructor for the Deaf Education and Hearing Science (DEHS) Program at the UT Health San Antonio. Ms. Lopez is a recognized leader in the field of 0-3 deaf education, with an emphasis on listening and spoken language. She is currently the Director of the Parent Infant Program at Sunshine Cottage School for Deaf Children in San Antonio, Texas. Ms. Lopez has an undergraduate degree in deaf education from Trinity University, and a Master’s Degree in counseling from the University of Texas, San Antonio.

Lisa Lopez became a Listening and Spoken Language Specialist in 1997 (LSLS Cert.-AVT) and regularly mentors and supervises therapy at Sunshine Cottage. Ms. Lopez has co-authored two chapters in Warren Estabrook’s Songs for Listening! Songs for Life! She is Program Manager for the nationally recognized Nurturing Program and teaches monthly parenting classes to adults of children with hearing loss. The Parent Infant Program at Sunshine Cottage is researched based and in 2011 received the LENA Award for outstanding scientific achievement from the LENA Foundation. Ms. Lopez currently serves on the Board of Directors for OPTION Schools, Inc.
