Seminar – John D. Roache, Ph.D.

Dr. John D. Roache, Ph.D. is a tenured Professor in the department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences and also the department of Pharmacology. He serves as Chief of the Psychiatry Division of Alcohol and Drug Addiction at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center at San Antonio. With this, and previous appointments, he has served as the administrative and scientific director of major departmental and institutional programs promoting and supporting clinical trials operations in psychiatry and throughout the medical school and affiliate partner sites. His research career of nearly 40 years, has focused on clinical research studies to understand the behavioral neuropharmacology of the causes, consequences, and treatments for alcohol and drug addiction. However, his interests much more broadly focus on improving the efficiency of the academic translational research process and conveying knowledge of the neurobehavior science of human behavior into practical improvements in human health for the community.
