About the Speaker(s)
Joshua Corbin, Ph.D., is a principal investigator at the Center for Neuroscience Research at Children’s National Hospital. He has an academic appointment as Professor of Pediatrics, Pharmacology and Physiology at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. Dr. Corbin holds a B.A. from Rutgers University and Ph.D. in neuroscience from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. He completed postdoctoral training at Mt. Sinai School of Medicine in neuroscience and New York University School of Medicine in developmental neuroscience.
Dr. Corbin's work is focused on development and dysfunction of the amygdala in relation to autism spectrum disorders using the mouse as a model. Also, his work has been published in top journals such as Neuron, Nature Neuroscience, eLife and Journal of Neuroscience. Dr. Corbin's work is currently funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and he has served as a panel reviewer for the NIH, National Science Foundation, Autism Speaks and Department of Defense. He also had the pleasure of presenting his work to Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, during the royal visit to the United States in 2007.
