Graduate Student
Personal Statement:
Bria is a graduate student in the neuroscience discipline of the Integrated Biomedical Sciences program. She is working in Dr. Jason O’Connor’s lab investigating how kynurenine metabolism is regulated between the brain and periphery, and how this regulation impacts mood, behavior, and cognition. Her research aims to uncover mechanisms linking metabolic processes to neuroinflammation and their downstream effects on behavior and cognition.
Prior to joining the program, Bria served as an active-duty Combat Medic in the U.S. Army. She enjoys spending time outdoors with her daughter and two dogs, staying involved in her daughter’s activities, and playing soccer. She also stays active through working out and greatly enjoys mentoring grade-school students.
