Research

Research on Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is challenging due to the intractable course of the tumor and high mortality in patients. Despite the implementation of various combinations of treatment modalities (surgery, chemotherapy, adjuvant chemotherapy), the survival rate for patients stands low. Targeting angiogenesis with anti-angiogenic treatments such as Bevacizumab in GBM was considered a golden approach, until preclinical data revealed the tumor to evade the angiogenesis machinery and rely on fatty acid from the surrounding to receive ATP. My research focus is to explore this adaptive tumoral response to hypoxia and develop suitable therapeutics to overcome treatment resistance.
