Breast Imaging Radiology

UT Health San Antonio’s Breast Imaging and Intervention Section is comprised of four board certified and fellowship trained radiologists with over 65 years of combined experience in breast and women’s imaging.  We provide comprehensive breast imaging and interventional services for the University Health System and UT Health System; including University Hospital, the Robert B. Green Campus in downtown San Antonio and the Mays Cancer Center in the South Texas Medical Center. Mays Cancer Center is one of only 3 National Cancer Institute (NCI) designated cancer centers in Texas.

Our research interests include novel breast imaging technologies and reducing barriers to breast health screening, especially for under-served populations. We practice in a comprehensive breast care environment with Breast Surgeons, Medical Oncologists, and Radiation Oncologists. Our patients receive state of the art care and have the opportunity to participate in ground-breaking research protocols.

We offer one-year breast imaging and intervention fellowships.  We are proud to train the next generation of breast imaging specialists.

Our section provides the following women’s imaging services:

  • Screening and diagnostic mammography
  • Breast ultrasound
  • MRI of the breasts, including screening and diagnostic services
  • Stereotactic, sonographic, and MRI guided breast biopsies
  • Image-guided preoperative needle localization of breast tumors
  • Tomography (3-D mammography)
