Ph.D. Candidate Kristen McConnell’s dissertation work was selected for a presentation at the AAPM Annual Meeting John R. Cameron Young Investigator Symposium in Denver, CO. The top 10 of 358 scoring abstracts were selected for this. Her work is guided by Dr. Neil Kirby.

Radiation Therapy Physics Students Receive Palmaz Travel Grant

Graduate students Ara Alexandrian, Christopher Kabat, Kristen McConnell, Mohammad Obeidat, and Holly Parenica received travel funding from the Julio C. Palmaz Endowment for Excellence in Radiology Research. These funds were used to attend the Annual AAPM meeting in Denver, CO.


Radiation Therapy Physics Students Win Awards at HPS Conference

Students participated in the local Health Physics Society Meeting by giving oral presentations. In the graduate student category, Kristen McConnell, Ara Alexandrian, and Anna Laura Licon won 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, respectively.


Radiation Therapy Physics Student Wins Awards at SWAAPM

Ph.D. Candidate Kristen McConnell won 2nd place for her oral presentation and 1st place for her poster at the annual Southwest Chapter of the AAPM in Fort Worth.


New faculty member

Dr. Daniel Saenz, joined our division as an Assistant professor in the clinical track. He returned to his native Texas after a short tenure at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Dr. Saenz will be coordinating the external beam quality control program at the UT Health cancer center site.


Radiation Therapy Physics Students Awarded CPRIT Training Grant

Radiation Therapy Physics students, Ara Alexandrian, Christopher Kabat, and Kristen McConnell were awarded institutional training grants from The Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT). These grants provide a stipend, tuition, and health insurance.
