The research is multidisciplinary and includes investigators with specialties in surgery, medicine, pre-hospital care, physiology, cell and molecular biology, biomedical engineering and surgical education. A combined team effort and integrative approach by our researchers contributes to improved procedures for training, diagnosis and treatment that ultimately contribute to decreased complications, morbidity and mortality in our patient population.

Research Interest

Although the research interests in the department are multifaceted, particular areas of interest include the immunopathology of trauma, wound healing and regenerative medicine, surgical education, cancer biology and epidemiology, bioinformatics and prehospital and critical care. Our research endeavors are funded by the NIH, Department of Defense and other sources.
