The COVID pandemic brought great challenges to the surgical experiences for many institutions, but we are thankful that our diversity in the program allowed us to maintain our case volume throughout the experience. This included the hard to reach Abdominal and Complex categories. Our collaborations with departments like Urology for the Renal Cell Cancer caval reconstructions is an example of that, along with the collaboration with the May’s Cancer Center UT Health MD Anderson partnership for complex reconstructions on regional referrals that would go to Houston MD Anderson in the past.
