Paige Brlecic
I was raised in Germany where I completed secondary school, medical school, and a doctoral degree in Cardiovascular Science. When my family permanently moved to the US, I made the decision to continue my career here and was thrilled to match at UTHSCSA. A strong emphasis on patient-centered care led me to rank this program at the top of my list. From medical students to residents, fellows and attendings, it is evident that in this program the patient is everyone’s top priority.
After residency I will pursue a fellowship in cardiac surgery. I am drawn to cardiac surgery for many reasons: the dynamic physiology of the heart, the complexity of patient management, the finesse and surgical dexterity required, the fulfillment derived from the positive impact the operations have on patients’ quality of life. All of which culminate in congenital cardiac surgery for me.
