Dr. Oyajobi is an outstanding expert in Advising & Mentorship as well as Educational Administration & Leadership.
He was Chair of the Committee of Graduate Studies (2012-2019) in the Integrated Multidisciplinary Graduate Program (IMGP) and Co-Leader of the Cancer Biology track, the largest thematic track in the IMGP. When the Integrated Biomedical Sciences Graduate Program replaced the IMGP, he served as the inaugural Director of the Cancer Biology discipline. In these educational leadership roles, he was responsible for teaching, mentoring, and advising over 40 doctoral students.
Kay serves as Principal or Co-Investigator (PI or Co-I) and/or Program Director (PD) for several NIH/NIGMS-funded institutional training grants: (i) a K12 IRACDA (postdoctoral training grant; (ii) T32 Initiative to Maximize Student Development (IMSD) grant; (iii) a R25 Bridge-to-the-Doctorate research education grant. He is also one of the MPI/PDs on a R25 PREP grant and a Co-I/Co-PD on an NCI-funded T32 training grant. He also helps trainees develop and refine their NIH grant applications.
