Nomination Submission:
I nominate Dr. Leal-Castanon for the Star Educator Award. She has devoted her life to the care of children and to teaching the next generation of pediatricians. She has taught and mentored numerous waves of graduating pediatric resident cohorts over her more than 28 years of practicing pediatrics and teaching here at UT Health San Antonio. Her exemplary teaching and selfless mentoring have helped shape the next generation of pediatricians to emulate not only excellent pediatric medical care, but to do so in the most compassionate, inclusive, and nourishing manner. Dr. Leal is indispensable to our Pediatric Residents.
