Nomination Submission:
Dr. Brigmon exemplifies the LSOM Stars of Education through his extraordinary ability to meet students where they are and elevate them to the next level. He has a remarkable talent for assessing each learner’s baseline knowledge and building their confidence and skills through personalized teaching and encouragement. Dr. Brigmon is deeply invested in the professional development of his students, frequently offering mentorship, research opportunities, and career guidance, making him an invaluable resource both inside and outside the clinical setting. His teaching extends beyond traditional medicine; he is also an outstanding educator in point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS), skillfully integrating it into daily practice to strengthen clinical reasoning. Dr. Brigmon’s unique training background enriches his teaching, providing students with a broad, thoughtful, and practical approach to patient care that they are unlikely to encounter elsewhere. Moreover, he serves as the prime example of compassionate bedside manner. His common phrase, “I treat everyone as if they’re my own family,” has deeply impacted me and continues to guide my approach to patient care. I often find myself thinking, “If this were my parent, what would I do?”—a mindset that pushes me to go the extra mile in chart checking, presenting, and studying the latest guidelines to ensure the best possible care. Dr. Brigmon’s dedication to education, mentorship, and humanism truly sets him apart and leaves a lasting impact on every learner he meets.
