Nomination Submission:

I am honored to nominate Dr. Tharani Ravi for the LSOM Stars of Education award. Dr. Ravi is a dedicated educator who consistently enhances the learning experience of both family medicine residents and medical students through her clinical expertise, mentorship, and leadership. In both the hospital and the family health center, she provides exceptional clinical instruction to residents and students alike, challenging learners with insightful questions and guiding them to a deeper understanding of pathophysiology and management. No matter how busy the clinic or the hospital service is, Dr. Ravi demonstrates a balance of efficiency with attention to detail while never appearing stressed or rushed, modeling professionalism and poise in the face of pressure.

Dr. Ravi also leads the Family Medicine Department’s resident research program, fostering a culture of inquiry and evidence-based practice. She encourages both residents and faculty to pursue scholarly work that ultimately improves patient care. Her commitment to academic development is matched by her dedication to mentorship; she has served as a Veritas mentor for all four years of medical training and was honored with the Veritas Mentor of the Year award for her exceptional support of students’ academic and personal growth.

Dr. Ravi demonstrated compassionate, patient-centered care while teaching medical, nursing, pharmacy, and physician assistant students at the SAMM student faculty collaborative practice; she has also worked with students in community settings through Frontera. Her ability to lead by example, maintain high clinical standards, and support learners across all levels makes her an outstanding clinician-educator and a truly deserving nominee for this award.
