Nomination Submission:

It is my sincere pleasure to nominate Dr. Bill Clarke for the LSOM Stars of Education. Dr. Clarke is an outstanding educator, committed in all aspects of effective teaching and mentorship. This is best demonstrated in his leadership of the IBMS 5000 course for incoming Ph.D. students. This is an intense course that has to be effective for students with diverse educational and cultural backgrounds. By incorporating a range of teaching methods, Dr. Clarke helps students learn and importantly, develop independent thinking skills. Dr. Clarke is committed to their academic success, and he also helps immeasurably in their adaptation to graduate school. The end of course survey answers demonstrate this, with one response: “Dr. Clarke does his best to make the experience as easy on students as possible and always gives support when a student needs it. He is by far the best part of this course.”  On the question of rating the course director, 24 of 29 students rated him 100.
