Personal Statement:
Dr. Aakash Shah plans to pursue Adult Cardiac Surgery with a particular interest in mitral valve and arrythmia surgery. He is currently the lead editor for the news section of Artificial Organs and maintains membership in the STS, AATS, AHA. He and, prior resident, Dr. Connor McDonald, participated in the 2025 STS/EACTS CT Surgery Resident Showdown. Additionally, he was selected to be a resident moderator at 2025 STSA conference. Dr. Shah graduated from the Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in 2021 with Distinction in Research and was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society and Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medica Society. He attended Georgetown University, Washington, D.C., where he graduated with a B.S. in Neurobiology. Dr. Shah is married to his wife, Abbey McNaughton, and has golden retriever named George. In his free time, he is usually spending time with his family, running in San Antonio, or enjoying a new restaurant.
