Anne L. Sandstrom, MD

Personal Statement:
Dr. Sandstrom was born and raised in Bismarck, North Dakota. She received her Bachelor of Science in Biology and Psychology at Baylor University. She returned to North Dakota to obtain her medical degree at the University of North Dakota. Her professional interests are in adult cardiac surgery. Her research interests are health disparities, particularly those faced by Native American communities, and she has previously conducted research on Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders. This year, Dr. Sandstrom earned a position alongside Dr. Dubeau in the STS/EACTS CT Surgery Resident Showdown that will take place in January 2026. In her spare time, she enjoys crocheting, traveling, reading historical fiction, listening to true crime podcasts, and playing with her cats Benny and Finn.
