Irina Kolesnik, MD

PGY I

Personal Statement:

Dr. Kolesnik is originally from Belarus and immigrated to the US with her family when she was a child. She received a BS in Biological Sciences: Physiology and Neurobiology from the University of Maryland and attended the University of Maryland School of Medicine to obtain her MD in 2023. She received numerous awards while in medical school including the Women in Thoracic Surgery 2022 Brigid Scanlan Traveling Mentorship Award (which provided her the opportunity to do an away rotation at UT Health CT Surgery),  the Society of Thoracic Surgeons 2022 Looking to the Future Scholarship and the American Association for Thoracic Surgery 2020 Summer Intern Scholarship. Outside of medicine, she is quite the “foodie” and on her days off she enjoys hosting dinner parties inspired by international cuisines and trying new restaurants around San Antonio. She is also an avid reader and a cat mom.
