Russell Donohue II, LP, CCP

Perfusionist

Personal Statement:

Mr. Russell E. Donohue II was born and raised in South Texas. He graduated from Texas A&M University in College Station in 1994 with a B.S. in Zoology. After graduating he went on to earn his Medical Laboratory certificate at Victoria College in 1995. He then worked for eight years covering all sections of the medical laboratory which included chemistry, hematology, blood banking, serology, and microbiology. He worked and managed various lab sizes, from large hospital labs to small rural laboratory settings. That is where he learned invaluable skills which led him to pursue a career in perfusion.

In 2004 Russell graduated from Texas Heart Institute in Houston, Tx. He began his perfusion career at Baylor Scott & White in Temple, Tx in 2005. While at Baylor Scott & White he performed many types of cardiac cases as well as various types of heart assist devices, heart and lung transplants, chemotherapy administration, aortic dissections, adult & pediatric ECMO.

Mr. Donohue is grateful to be a member of a great team of Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, and Medical staff that make up the UT Health Cardiothoracic Surgery Department. Job satisfaction is high extremely rewarding to be amongst other experienced, knowledgeable and dedicated perfusionists who strive for the best positive daily outcomes.  Mr. Donohue enjoys spending his free time with his daughter and volunteering at the San Antonio Food Bank.
