Why Emergency Medicine?

There is something so special about being able to serve patients who walk through the ED doors. Sometimes you see a patient on the worst day of his or her life, and it’s up to you to steer that patient into the right direction. At times, you can only be there to hold a patient’s hand, grab them a warm blanket, and offer palliative care. Other times, you are fully in the action. There’s never a dull moment in the ED, and it’s those rare moments of truly being called to action that I live for.

Why did you choose UT Health?

I had the absolute best interview experience with UTHSCSA. I can’t recall ever being so excited to tell my husband about a program post-interview until my interaction with the faculty and residents at this program. The genuine sincerity, commitment to serve, camaraderie, and joy that exuded from everyone sealed the deal. I just had a gut feeling that without a doubt, I had found my future home for the next 3 years!! Plus, EM Survivor?! YES PLEASE!
