Why Emergency Medicine?

The emergency department doesn’t selectively treat people with pathology limited to a single organ system or only see patients based on certain characteristics. The only thing that holds true for all patients in the ED is that they’re in the middle of having a really, really, bad day. Those are the patients that I want to help.
