Why Emergency Medicine?

Emergency Medicine was an easy choice for me. Prior to medical school, I was an ER scribe and absolutely fell in love with the specialty. Having to know a little bit about everything is cool but one of the best feelings in the world is saving someone’s life who was on the brink of death prior to your interventions. Also, the people who tend to gravitate towards EM are hard to beat – we like to work hard/play hard. I would choose EM every time if given other options!

 

Whey did you choose UT Health?

Easy – the culture here is second to none. During the interview process I made it a point to rank the place that I felt the most welcomed. “Family” is something that you hear everywhere on the interview trail but UTHSCSA is the epitome of that. No other place I interviewed came even close to how the residents and faculty made me feel. Having been here for 2 years now, I can assure you that the family atmosphere is a top priority for us. Also, University Health has extremely sick patients and the quality of education that our patients can teach us is amazing.
