Overview:

Oral conditions are common in the general population. Some present exclusively in the mouth, while others are manifestation of systemic disease. The increase in longevity and patients living with chronic conditions as well as the emergence of new drugs with an impact on the oral cavity requires solid foundational knowledge in oral health. This session will review common oral conditions and the principles for diagnosis and management in the Family Medicine practice setting.

Objectives:

  • Discuss the relationship between Medicine and Dentistry.
  • Recognize common oral conditions seen in the Family Medicine practice.
  • Develop a plan for the appropriate diagnosis and management of common oral conditions.
