Overview:

Primary Care provides Women’s Health across the lifespan, including wellness, disease states that affect women, and health-enhancing strategies. Therefore, abnormal uterine bleeding is a critical topic in primary care. Dr. Anne Porter, Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at UT Health San Antonio, will review options for surgical management of abnormal uterine bleeding including both conservative options that preserve fertility as well as uterine sparing methods for patients who have completed childbearing. Dr. Porter will discuss techniques for minimally invasive surgery in patients with advanced pathology.

Objectives:

1. Review the definition of abnormal uterine bleeding and discuss differential diagnosis
2. Discuss candidate selection for surgical management
3. Review surgical management options, including risks and benefits of each option
