Overview:

Trauma can have devastating effects on its victims. Within Family Medicine, we provide care to patients who have experienced trauma and live with the day-to-day effects of trauma. In this presentation, we will discuss the progression of trauma-related disorders and their diagnostic criteria. We will review the pharmacological and nonpharmacological approaches to treating these disorders. Finally, we will review how to monitor treatment response and what complications need to be monitored.
