Overview:

Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory disease with an increased prevalence and high morbidity. It is considered to be the second largest contributor to skin-related disability.  In this presentation, Dr. Cervantes and Dr. Arocha will review psoriatic clinical variants, differential diagnoses and initial treatment options that can easily be started in a primary care setting. Advanced therapies for severe cases will also be briefly discussed. Reducing the global burden of Psoriasis through effective treatment, timely screening for comorbidities and appropriate referrals will help provide the best care to our patients.

Objectives:

  1.  Review epidemiology and pathophysiology.
    2.  Describe clinical variants and differential diagnoses.
    3.  Discuss different topical and systemic treatment options.
    4.  Determine associated comorbidities and screening.
