Voelcker Consultants visit MIMG

 

 

Scientific Consultants for The Max and Minnie Tomerlin Voelcker Fund, Drs. Enriqueta Bond and Elaine Gallin, visited the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio on May 14, 2018.

 

Their visit provided faculty with the opportunity to discuss how the grant has impacted their research. During their visit, Dr. Bond and Dr. Gallin met with the following 2017 Young Investigator Awardees:

They also met with Chairman of the Department of Microbiology, Immunology & Molecular Genetics, Dr. Paolo Casali. Dr. Casali provided a tour of the department’s newly renovated facilities and discussed the success of five department faculty receiving Voelcker Awards in three years.

The Max and Minnie Tomerlin Volcker Fund provides grant funds to rising young investigators with innovative and exciting medical research that explores cures for cancer, heart disease, arthritis, muscular dystrophy, retinitis, or maculative degeneration of the retina. It is due to the diligent work and generous contributions of organizations like The Max and Minnie Tomerlin Volcker Fund that the institution’s medical research is capable of making significant strides in the medical community.
