The Lab RATS

The Lab RATS (Lab Researchers with Ambition to Serve) have had an eventful few weeks with various volunteer opportunities. At Powell Elementary School, the Lab RATS did strawberry DNA extractions and made nucleotide bracelets in the school gym for students in third, fourth, and fifth grade. Last week, the Lab RATS participated in the Chumbley Elementary STEM Night and guided students and their families in examining microbes using microscopes and performed a science experiment using sugar, water, and yeast to blow up a balloon. Finally, the Lab RATS volunteered at Shelter Paws and helped a dog, Daisy, get rescued from Animal Care Services!
