Kate Lathrop, M.D.

Assistant Dean for Medical Student Research

Dr. Lathrop is a UT Health Medical Breast Oncologist. Her research interest is in early therapeutics for breast cancer, particularly triple negative breast cancer. She is the current fellowship director for the Hematology and Medical Oncology Fellowship and an assistant program director with a focus on scholarly activity for the Internal Medicine residency program. She also serves as the program director for the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium.

Chris Valdez, PhD

Associate Director of Research Operations
Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine

Dr. Valdez received his Ph.D. in Neuroscience from the University of Michigan and is a former Department of Defense principal investigator. As the Research Operations Manager, Dr. Valdez leverages his technical and administrative background to manage programs and services that support strategic research areas within the LSOM.

Jennifer Maldonado

Executive Assistant, Vice Dean for Research

Jennifer received her Bachelor’s degree from San Diego State University, and is a U.S. Navy Veteran who served during Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. As the Vice Dean for Research Executive Assistant, Jennifer is the point of contact for managing the Vice Dean for Research’s daily meeting agenda and partners with colleagues to oversee event and fiscal planning.
