Kate Lathrop, M.D.
Assistant Dean for Medical Student Research
Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine
Dr. Lathrop is a UT Health Medical Breast Oncologist. Her research interest is in early therapeutics for breast cancer, particularly triple negative breast cancer. She is the current fellowship director for the Hematology and Medical Oncology Fellowship and an assistant program director with a focus on scholarly activity for the Internal Medicine residency program. She also serves as the program director for the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium.
Chris Valdez, PhD
Associate Director of Research Operations
Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine
Dr. Valdez received his Ph.D. in Neuroscience from the University of Michigan and is a former Department of Defense principal investigator. As the Research Operations Manager, Dr. Valdez leverages his technical and administrative background to manage programs and services that support strategic research areas within the LSOM.
Jennifer Maldonado
Senior Program Coordinator

Jennifer received her Bachelor’s degree from San Diego State University, and is a U.S. Navy Veteran who served during Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. As the Senior Program Coordinator, Jennifer assumes oversight of student, resident and fellow programming and department-wide events.
