Program Highlights

Program highlights include:

    • Ten ENT residents total, two per year
    • Busy operative schedule with a graduated surgical experience (Chief Residents typically have >2000 procedures logged)
    • Educational Resources: Department provides residents with annual BoardVitals account. All textbooks are available through institutional ClinicalKey access.
    • Weekly Grand Rounds* with dedicated three hours of didactics on Tuesday mornings
      • Built in resident-directed learning hour which is designed by PGY4 residents
    • Weekly Head and Neck Multidisciplinary Tumor Board including staff from radiology, radiation, and medical oncology
    • In-house Temporal Bone Laboratory (once or twice monthly led by faculty) and annual off-site Temporal Bone Course available to senior residents
    • Monthly Trauma Conference (in conjunction with OMFS and PRS)
    • Audiology Lecture Series (monthly)
    • Quarterly Journal Club (located at various restaurants, venues, or hosted dinners)
    • Biweekly Quality Assurance (M&M) Conference
    • Introduction to Research Methods and Semi-Annual Resident Research Conference
    • PGY2 Introduction to Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Course
    • PGY3 Orbital Dissection Course**
    • All residents are provided with a $2500 educational stipend to be used at their discretion, typically used for surgical loupes and/or equipment
    • Food stipend refilled semi-annually and discount for residents available at University Hospital

*Every other week, the San Antonio Military Medical Center Otolaryngology Program joins UT residents for combined Grand Rounds, hosted at UT Health San Antonio

** In conjunction with San Antonio Military Medical Center Otolaryngology training program, located a Lackland Airforce Base
